When Hanon and Hummel are mentioned in the same sentence, you know they're going to bring something good to the table. The 'Standing Only' pack, which is inspired by football terrace culture, goes back to strong roots and is delivered with genuine affection.
Entitled ‘Standing Only’, the collections pays homage to the part-time and lower league football clubs in Scotland, shining a light on grassroots football, which plays a huge part of the cultural fabric of the UK. As a number of the teams are located in rural and remote areas, community is key, with most clubs relying on local volunteers and unsung heroes to ensure the smooth-running day to day. To shine a light on the most prominent members within the community, Hummel and HANON teamed up with prominent Scottish photographer Brian Sweeney, famously known for his football photo series ‘The Great Stadiums of the North’ to showcase these unsung heroes of Scottish grassroots football.
Both brands draw inspiration for this pack from three teams within the Scottish Highland League; Huntly FC, Forres Mechanics FC and Rothes FC, all of which are situated in the North East of Scotland, were HANON are based.
Each shoe and jersey draws inspiration from the kit colours associated with the retrospective teams. Huntly FC’s team colours are reimagined on the Hummel SUPER TRIMM in a strong blue suede with a dark black sole unit. Rothes FC’s team colours are depicted on the Hummel MARATHONA using full grain leather in black and white with light grey suede panels and bright orange pops. The final team, Forres Mechanics FC’s colours are reflected in the Hummel HB TEAM, a golden yellow full grain leather and super soft pigskin suede upper, sat atop a dark gum sole unit. All three styles come with dual branded Hummel x HANON detailing including a specially designed box to coincide with each team release. Three jerseys will also be available for each team to correspond with each sneaker release.
The hummel x HANON ‘Standing Only’ pack launches at HANON on 18th August with the Huntly FC SUPER TRIMM, the Rothes FC MARATHONA on 25th August and finally the Forres Mechanics HB TEAM on 1st September. All three shoes and jerseys release globally on 8th September 2018.
