Kappa have turned on their retro charm to release a new collection for Seville based La Liga club Real Betis. Throwing shapes of throwback style across the full capsule, Kappa cover the Betis-coloured tracksuits and jerseys in their iconic heavy logo branding.
While their cross-city rivals Seville have enjoyed more success in recent decades, Betis are one of the proudest clubs in the country with over 60,000 filling the Estadio Benito Villamarín with passion to keep Betis bouncing. The club's mantra is "manquipierda" which literally translates to "Even if we lose" – a through-thick-and-thin attitude that epitomises the loyalty the fans have to this club. The green and white of the home shirt has always been a symbol for belonging, and that's what Kappa have captured with their latest release.
After one of the most successful spells in the club's history in the '90s, when Kappa was designing the Betis kits, the brand are now back in town with a strong connection to the club. Dropping this retro collection sparks memories of a golden era, twisted with a streetwear feel that resonates hard in current lifestyle circles. Brazilian photographer Amanda Adàsz roamed around Plaza de Espana and the several boulevards of Seville for the shoot to capture a nostalgic but local feel.
