Paris Saint-Germain and the Jordan Brand take their much hyped collaboration into a second season of style as they partner up to launch their first drop of SS19. The Parisians are leading the game in terms of integrating football into streetwear and the latest batch of updates arrive with more sharp lifestyle offerings.
The basketball meets football link up was hands down the biggest brand story of 2018 with numerous sell outs both on and off pitch. PSG are expected to don Jordan branded kits once more throughout the 2019/20 season, but that's a release for a later date. Right now it's about the off pitch scene as the brand release a first look at some of the club's statement clothing and footwear pieces.
Known for contemporary designs and sporting heritage, Jordan Brand incorporates style and innovation in its PSG apparel offering, and the latest installment of the collection embodies the same narrative as the 2018/19 releases while going bigger, boulder, and prouder. The evolution of the collection follows the theme of allegiance and community by going back to the city and its fans. Classic Jordan Brand flare is expressed through graphics that were inspired by the Air Jordan VI and Infrared colour combination.
The collection has already been previewed by Kylian Mbappe on his Nike tour of the United States, as well as DJ Khalid proving a glimpse of the update on his Instagram, but now the lid has been lifted for real. First pieces from the apparel collection, that will hit the market from the end of June, consists of jackets, hoodies, tees, basketball vests and track pants, while the footwear pack is headlined by the dual-branded Paris Saint-Germain x Air Jordan 6 with its combination of dark greys and blacks with suede panels.
The Air Jordan 6 PSG uses infrared detailing on the Jumpman logos found on the tongue tabs and bottom sole, and on the lace locks and “PANAME” heel tags. “Paris” and “75” branding also take their place on the lace locks, while a PSG crest hits up the heels.“Ici Est Paris” (“This Is Paris”), has then been stamped on the insoles.
The Air Jordan 6 PSG is joined by the brand's latest hybrid silhouette, the Jordan Mars 270, which was designed by Spike Lee’s son, Jackson Lewis Lee. This release features a red leather upper with a silver Swoosh underneath the mesh netting on the sides. Black detailing and dark grey accents atop an Air Max 270 heel unit and translucent outsole completes the design. A Jordan I Low also gets the PSG treatment, while one of Jordan Brand's newest runners, the Jordan Havoc React, which comes from Nike's React family of running shoes, completes the footwear line-up.
Release of the second installment of the Jordan Brand x Paris Saint-Germain Collection begins in late June. Expect to see more drops over the coming weeks.
