Awake NY x Kappa Launch 90s-Inspired Clothing Capsule

Awake NY and Kappa come together for a fresh Fall/Winter 2019 capsule collection that boasts a heavy 90s aesthetic, drawing influence from lifestyle and on-pitch designs from the decade for a combination that blurs the lines between sportswear and fashion in the most pleasing of presentations.

The Awake NY x Kappa collection sees retro-stylised tracksuits alongside stadium jackets, a standout take on a soccer jersey and the quintessentially 90s bucket hat. The soccer jersey features a bold visual nod to Awake’s New York roots in the form of a graphic print of Times Square on the front, while the rear sees a “Game Colors” chart and the collaborators’ sign-offs.

Awake NY was founded by Angelo Baque, former brand director at Supreme, and his influence on the collection is clear, fusing Kappa’s sporting heritage with modern American streetwear. The 90s-inspired collaboration is captured perfectly by the dual-logo banding, which wraps across the bucket hat, stadium jacket and tracksuits, of which there are three iterations, “Black/Blue,” “Pink/Red” and “White”, and we're all for their throwback feel.

For Lotto it's a continuation of the stunning work that it's been doing on the pitch this season, the retro-revival playing perfectly for some of their kits, most notably Monaco's tasty trio. But it's in the lifestyle circles that the Italian brand has been continuing to move from strength to strength, typified by this latest hook-up: big, bold and absolutely banging, the perfect look for this winter.

The full Awake NY x Kappa capsule collection will be available online from 25 October.
