Underlining the influence that the ’90s still has over contemporary fashion, Pretty Green and Umbro come together for their first-ever collaboration. The collection exists an ode to vintage sportswear silhouettes from the era, and that's combined with a heavy influence of rock’n’roll, with the collaboration symbolising the brands' love for both.
The 90s was a time that was dominated by a casual cool; a time that saw cultures crossing for the first time, with musicians taking to the stage in the same clothing that was being worn in the terraces as the worlds of music and football began to merge. And with music and football still at the heart of British culture today, Pretty Green and Umbro have come together for a debut collection that celebrates the combination of the two, while paying homage to the influence of the ’90s on modern culture.
We headed to Rush Green, West Ham's training ground, to get an exclusive look at the collection as it was modelled by academy players Conor Coventry, Mesaque Dju, Brandon Thomas, and Kai Corbett.
The Pretty Green x Umbro collection is comprised of the Cassidy Parka and Beckford Jacket, along with sweaters, hoodies, track tops, pants and football shirts, while a long sleeved drill top in washed-out blue with drawstrings is inspired by the same legendary Umbro top worn onstage by Pretty Green founder, Liam Gallagher during Oasis’ historic 40,000 capacity show at Maine Road in 1996. A standout throwback football shirt then completes the vintage vibe, harking back to Umbro’s iconic England shirt from Euro ’96, updated with an all-over Pretty Green paisley design.
