The Mothman meets 96 years of footballing heritage, as FC Dorsum and Umbro come together for their first collaborative collection, presented in a stunning lookbook for our viewing pleasure.
For those unfamiliar, FC Dorsum is a fictional club, playing in the conceptualised Ipsum league. The running theme of the club name is carried throughout the brand’s identity, with the club crest coming from the Dorsum, a genus of moths. But that’s not where the name originates. No, for that you have to look to the dorsum muscle, located on the top of the foot. It harks back to “putting your laces through it” to produce a shot of power, and that mirrors FC Dorsum’s aim to make a powerful impact in the world of global football and fashion alike. So now you know.
The FC Dorsum x Umbro collection reflects the quality, weight and classic attention to detail that the club are obsessed with. The track-jacket juxtaposes a 90’s silhouette with a modern disposition, clean lines and a subtle paisley, while our woven sweat-pants, shorts and crew-neck fill out the line with bold heritage pieces that harken back to a golden era in football.
The home jersey is navy and features an all-over paisley, which is seen throughout various pieces in the collection. The FC Dorsum team crest and Umbro branding are once again embroidered, but uniquely placed at the centre of the shirt, a move that continues to draw on influence from iconic 90s designs.
The away strip is made of an iconic, white long-sleeve jacquard that shimmers with a sublimated diamond pattern. Accents come from Dorsum navy, which is used for the the bold lines across the chest, the single-button collar, sleeve-cuffs, as well as the embroidered Umbro and Dorsum logos.
Both jerseys will feature a small heat press of the Rose of Sharon (the National flower of Korea) along with a tribute to the unique collection, similar to when teams play in testimonial or other special match.
