Continuing their collaborations with a new wave of British talent, Umbro unveils its latest creation – a spin on a British Classic, the England 1990 Home Jersey – this time made with 22-year old Barny Fletcher.
The Umbro x Barny Fletcher shirt follows in the footsteps of Loyle Carner and more recently that of Kamakaze, as the Double Diamond continues to scout the hottest British talent of 2020, forging alliances and creating some bespoke brilliance laced with the influence of the game gone by on a burgeoning generation. And with that generation now affecting its influence on the world, the circle is complete, with some of the best limited edition shirts in the game.
Newly signed to Island Records, few artists make modern chaos sound as fun as 22 year old Barny Fletcher. With two acclaimed early mixtapes – 'CANVAS2033', and ‘BOZO’ – Fletcher proved himself able to move between a kaleidoscopic mix of styles (hip-hop, R&B, disco) whilst barely losing breath. And amongst the likes of Radio 1, 1Xtra, 6Music, i-D, Sunday Times and NME, his exploits also caught the attention of Umbro, who were only too happy to hook up for the latest chapter in this exciting project.
The shirt puts its own take on a British Classic – the England 1990 Home Jersey – to mark the ever evolving influence Football Fashion has on the daring, creative and fearless. Once again complete with a signature badge – this time a Verlimont FC Crest – the shirt sees a striking sublimated print of a three-headed lion dominate the body, an obvious nod to the Three Lions, and that’s alongside the familiar detailing on the collar and sleeves. Only 400 of these made, so if you want one, don’t dawdle.
