Umbro Join Up With Kamakaze For New Limited Edition Shirt Collab

Umbro has been busy scouting the hottest British talent of 2020, and its latest collaboration sees a hook up with Brit grime artist and pro footballer Kamakaze for a limited edition shirt.

Following on from its sell-out collaboration with Loyle Carner, which offered up not one, but two special edition shirts for the Hip Hop artist, Umbro’s newest collaboration this season is with pro-footballer and grime artist, Kamakaze. The collaboration with Kamakaze, aka Matt Robinson, a professional footballer for National League team Dagenham and Redbridge by day and irrepressible grime artist by night, once again takes influence from one of Umbro’s iconic national home kits, this time from 1987/89.

Designed by Kamakaze and Umbro, the shirt sees the original contrast crew-neck collar, complete with stud fastening, updated in burgundy with red accents; this change up itself influenced by one particularly heroic and claret-tinged post-match photograph of the original shirt from 1989 featuring a blood-stained Terry Butcher. Archive-inspired white/grey diamond print contrasts are also revived alongside colour-pop tabs on sleeves.

The Kamakaze x Umbro shirt features a ‘Kamakaze FC’ badge illustrated with a Yokosuka MXY-7 Ohka aircraft alongside references to the grime artist’s previous music group ‘BLG’ and his upcoming drop ‘Memories Over Money’. On the back of the shirt is a bold red number 7, not only the number worn by football’s most legendary players, but also Kamakaze’s personal professional goal total.
