adidas x Peter Saville Drop Exclusive Manchester United Collection

Combining the joint passions of the city, adidas partner with revered designer Peter Saville for a special collection for Manchester United. It sees Peter Saville’s iconic Unknown Pleasures album artwork design reimagined using heartrate data from MUFC men and women players and imprinted onto the collection in a true fusion of sport and culture.

The city of Manchester is hailed for both its music and football, and now adidas bring both together for an exclusive collection for Manchester United, created in collaboration with designer Peter Saville. Saville is well known for his iconic art works, with Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures being perhaps one of his most identifiable graphic works. Now, bringing a new reading to the design, he has reimagined the origin by taking heart rate data from the Manchester United men’s and women’s teams during competition, redrawing the design as a true fusion of sport and culture to create the Pulsebeat collection.

The Pulsebeat collection is a physical representation of the heartbeat of Manchester and a visual display of what makes the city’s energy so unique.

Saville said of the collection: “A Manchester hearts beat differently. It’s a place where people do things with an energy that permeates. Within this special collection, football and music become united.

The exclusive collection features a two-piece tracksuit, long sleeve jersey, short sleeve cotton t-shirt, shorts, and scarf, as well as a limited-edition adidas Spezial sneaker which will be made available exclusively in the summer via the adidas CONFIRMED app.

Inigo Turner, Design Director, adidas said: “There is a vibrancy that drives the city of Manchester to continuously evolve. From the energy in music, fashion and supporting the biggest club in the world, there is an appeal to the culture that fuels the fans whilst fusing it to the realms of creativity and expression.

The collection will be available to adiClub members from 18 April via adidas.co.uk and the Manchester United club and online store.
