London-based skateboard and streetwear brand Palace have dropped an Inter-inspired polo that’s modelled on the Milan club’s iconic 1997/98 third shirt, originally produced by Umbro.
Think Inter Milan sponsors, and Pirelli will never be far from your thoughts following what was over a quarter of a century’s worth of iconic looks. Then think Pirelli and the iconic 1997/98 third shirt shouldn't be far off what you're imagining. In fairness, iconic doesn't even cut it for this. This screams peak Ronaldo destroying teams left, right and centre as Inter stomped their way to UEFA cup glory. Not a bad choice for Palace to add into their latest lifestyle range then…
Despite being most widely recognised as a skateboarding brand, Palace love to lean into their passion for football, most notably with their headline collaboration with Juventus. But further than that they’re always happy to include football-inspired silhouettes in their collections, and the latest Summer 22 range doesn’t disappoint, including a long-sleeve polo that reimagines that 1997/98 third shirt look in to colour options: Cream and Navy.
The "Palazzo Knit", as it’s dubbed, sees the hoops recreated, with the Pirelli sponsor logo replaced by “Palace”, which comes complete with the tyre brand’s signature elongated “P” – a fixture on inter shirts for 26 years. A football-style crest bearing the colours of the Italian flag sits centrally, just below the collar placket with the word "campeones" embroidered on the right side of the chest. On the rear the number “22” appears in black with a thin yellow outline with the "Palazzo" callout featuring above it in place of a player name.
It’s not the first time Palace have used Inter for their designs, with the SS17 collection featuring a classic Nerrazzuri black and blue execution, but this is a straight lift of the 97/98 third shirt. Not that we’re complaining, of course; this is an easy win for a summer of style.
The Palace Summer 22 range launched 6 May.
