Coming off the back of becoming the NBA’s all-time top scoring player, Lebron James and Liverpool football club have officially unveiled their full new collaborative collection from Nike.
Having given the world an early debut of certain pieces from the long-rumoured collaborative collection with Liverpool, Lebron James then went on to break the NBA all-time scoring record. Legendary status well and truly secured, Nike now launch the full LFC x Lebron collection, offering up a welcome distraction to the football club’s on-pitch woes and a welcome celebration for the basketball superstar.
One of the key reasons that Nike were able to leverage the Liverpool contract away from New Balance was the company’s marketing power and their global reach and influence, promoted by their wider family of superstar athletes and key influencers such as LeBron, and now that influence and sway is bearing fruits, with the LFC x LeBron 9 Low trainer, preceding this full collection.
The collection is comprised of the previously seen marquee shirt, a traditional basketball jersey, tees, a hoodie and shorts. The tee sees a black base overlaid with red pinstripes, in between which features the club’s motto “YNWA” (You’ll Never Walk Alone), alongside Lebron’s “SFG” (Strive For Greatness). The LFC crest appears in its traditional placing on the left of the chest, as does the Nike Swoosh, on the right chest. The basketball player’s logo then features in the sponsor slot.
Speaking about the collaboration, club captain Jordan Henderson said: “I’m a big fan of LeBron and all he’s achieved to become one of the greatest basketball players in history. It’s great to see the link-up with LFC and to be a part of this exciting collaboration with the club.”
LFC women's player Shanice Van de Sanden added: “I’m really proud to be a football player for Liverpool FC and to see this collaboration is very cool. It’s also more than just a collaboration, there’s something behind it: an inspiring message of ‘strive for greatness’.”
