MLS & Mister Cartoon Partner For Limited Edition Collection For OVO

Major League Soccer and Mister Cartoon have partnered to create a limited-edition collection exclusively for October’s Very Own, featuring Toronto FC, New York City FC and Los Angeles FC.

MLS continues to tread new ground, branching out from its on-pitch activities to explore new territory and cross-culture collections. This latest collaborative collection with Drake’s October’s Very Own pays homage to street culture across three major MLS markets, Toronto, New York, and Los Angeles. To tell that story, OVO partnered with world renowned artist, Mister Cartoon, to design custom art for each piece.

Cartoon began his career as a LA graffiti artist before branching into murals, album covers, logos, and now most famously known for his tattoos. His richly detailed, hand-rendered designs pull much of their inspiration from the Los Angeles of Cartoon’s youth. At one time, the black and grey, fine line style was synonymous with LA street life and Cartoon’s work has helped bridge the gap between those hardscrabble beginnings and the style’s current global popularity.

This limited-edition capsule collection features t-shirts, hoodies and sweat shorts for Major League Soccer clubs, Toronto FC, LAFC and New York City FC, all emblazoned with a combination of branding, with OVO’s logo featuring prominently alongside club crests.

Of course, this is not the first time we’ve seen Drake’s label spill into the football scene, and it’s not even the first time they’ve worked with Toronto, following a clothing capsule back in March. Still, it's a positive sign of MLS's willingness to expand and explore new territory.

The MLS x OVO capsule collection will be available starting Friday, 19 May at 12 p.m. (noon) ET at octobersveryown.com. Fans of Toronto FC will also be able to purchase the Toronto FC-themed merchandise online at shop.realsports.ca and at BMO Field beginning Saturday, 27 May.
