Fashion label Armed Angels has teamed up with Bundesliga side 1. FC Köln to launch a unique capsule collection inspired by their shared hometown of cologne, and the unique spirit of the city.
Rooted around the concept of the term “Heimspiel”, which roughly translates to home but that actually means so much more, 1. FC Köln and fashion label Armed Angels have teamed up over a shared love of their home city of Cologne. The collection seamlessly blends the fervour associated with football with Armed Angels’ dedication to sustainable fashion and practices, with the goal being to bridge their worlds and illustrate what HEIMSPIEL really means. And who better to front the capsule than former Köln player, Lukas Podolski.
The collection consists of products created with recycled cotton and organic cotton, embracing the values of Armed Angels, celebrating sustainable fashion and football, but also the unique spirit of both the brand and club’s shared home, Cologne.
The headline piece of the collection is the retro Brian FC shirt, which features the “Heimspiel” call out in the sponsor slot, riding above the word “Koln” in a stylised font. The shirt has a throwback feel thanks to a classic collar in white, while the main body features horizontal stripes in red and white. The collection also features tees, shorts, hoodies, socks and hats.
Speaking of the collab, Podolski said: “I think it’s really cool that two strong brands are teaming up, that fashion is being combined with sports and a cool collection is being created as a result.”
