Edgar Davids Brings The Heat In Just Eat Takeaway.com’s Throwback-Inspired Capsule

Enlisting Daily Paper co-founder and Head of Design Abderrahmane Trabsini and football’s favourite jeweller TROPHY BY GASSAN, Just Eat have launched a limited-edition merch capsule that merges football nostalgia with contemporary flair — fronted by none other than the iconic Edgar Davids.

This isn’t your average branded tee drop. Think 90s tunnel-walk energy, seen through the lens of today's culture clash between streetwear and football style. Three retro-flavoured jerseys and five iced-out charms make up the collection — each one dialled in with high-design touches and sharp references to both takeaway culture and old-school football swagger.

The shirts are drenched in Just Eat Takeaway.com’s unmistakable JET orange and detailed with clever nods to the brand’s identity — from a bespoke chest patch to the reimagined knife-and-fork emblem that patterns the fabric like a cult classic kit sponsor. Trabsini, who knows a thing or two about heritage and reinvention, took direct cues from legendary kits like the Netherlands’ 1998 jersey — a certified grail for football fashion heads — layering in playful elements like cutlery and napkin graphics to tie the story back to that post-match feast feeling.

When designing the jerseys, I set out to capture the spirit of retro football shirts — celebrated for their bold colours and vibrant patterns,” says Trabsini. “To connect this nostalgic aesthetic with modern food delivery, I integrated everyday takeaway elements—cutlery and napkins—using Just Eat Takeaway.com’s iconic colours to represent the convenience and joy of a great meal delivered to your door.

But it doesn’t stop at shirts. TROPHY BY GASSAN’s contribution to the capsule takes things into the realm of football luxury. Five bespoke necklace charms — dripping in diamonds, sapphires, enamel, and attitude — reinterpret the chunky, eye-catching jewellery worn by 90s footballers, this time with foodie flair. Sushi, burgers, pizza — it’s the takeaway menu, iced and immortalised in jewellery.

Football and fashion go hand in hand,” says Dustin Huisman, founder of TROPHY BY GASSAN. “We were inspired by the chunky, heavily-encrusted jewellery worn by 90s football icons. To bring some foodie flair to the high-end collection, each customized charm features a most-loved Just Eat Takeaway.com order.

And leading the line for this bold crossover? Edgar Davids — the man, the myth, the sunglasses. A style icon in his own right, Davids brings gravitas and authenticity to a capsule that celebrates not just football culture, but the fans and flavours that surround it.

The Just Eat Takeaway.com X Abderrahmane Trabisini drops on the 21st of May at 10am CET via Cultkits.com
