Umbro knows ball. WOEI knows sneakers. Together, naturally, they’ve made something that sits right in the sweet spot between terrace, touchline and training ground.

The British football stalwart has linked up with Rotterdam’s leading sneaker destination for a new capsule collection that celebrates the shared football language between two of the game’s great nations.

Not necessarily the polished, Champions League anthem version of football, either. This one is rooted a little lower down the pyramid, where the pints are poured early, the sidelines are loud, and the game still feels like it belongs to the people watching it.

Built around the fictional WOEI football team, the collection reworks classic Umbro silhouettes through a playful palette. Jerseys and shorts arrive with geometric patterning that taps into that golden-era kit feeling – the sort of design language that makes you think of muddy pitches and oversized crests.

Off the pitch, there’s a drill top with a bright pink upper panel, giving one of Umbro’s most familiar silhouettes a slightly cheekier edge, alongside tracksuit bottoms and sweatshirts that feel ready for five-a-side, the pub after, or both.

The real sneaker-head moment, though, comes via the Speciali trainer. Umbro’s iconic silhouette gets two suede WOEI makeovers, each finished with hits of pink and co-branded details across the tongue and heel.

It’s football footwear, but not as performance theatre. More matchday ritual, with a local club energy. Which, for me anyway, is ideal.

The full collection launches on June 6 and will be available via the Umbro website
