As 'Rivalry Week' takes over the MLS, we teamed up with the guys at creative studio Juliet Zulu to showcase the sights and sounds of this feisty encounter.
On the pitch entertainment and off the pitch culture saw Portland Timbers host Seattle Sounders at Providence Park in a game which saw Timbers rule with utter domination. A triumphant win, 4-1 to the hosts this gives a glimpse into the passion that is echoing out of the MLS.
Traditionally, when thinking of cauldrons of modern football atmosphere, you may think of the rich vibrancy and chaos of South America, or the ultra cool of Dortmund... Alas, with MLS games selling out, fans drenching themselves in colour and the spirit taking football fandom to a new level, it is moments like this that reaffirm the cliche of 'american saaccer' are well and truly buried. The MLS is proving to be an inspiration for off the pitch culture, rivalries may well be fierce but sportsmanship remains high.
We teamed up with the talented guys at Juliet Zulu, a creative agency based in Portland to document this match. The shots are monumental, capturing the essence of MLS supporters - witty, dedicated and 100% behind their teams. Not just a focus of the fans though, the players in focus too there are an almighty selection of boots on show for the spotters. Seriously cool. Let's all go to Portland...
