Marking a momentous occasion in the history of Manchester United, New Era have launched the first in their retro-series, beginning with a celebration of the 'Class of '77' in the shape of a capsule collection.
The 1977 FA Cup Final win over Liverpool was a landmark occasion for players and fans of Manchester United - a time that saw the side overcome fierce rivals, it is an occasion that serves long in the memories of the United faithful. For the first instalment in New Era’s Retro Series, the brand and club have released a special edition headwear collection that has been 40 years in the making.
A short film that sees players from the triumphant squad wind back through their memories of the day, the brand have released this video featuring Lou Macari, Arthur Albiston and Sammy McIlroy.
With colours carefully paired to surviving playing shirts from the fixture, and vintage styling and fabrics copied from fan memorabilia housed in the Old Trafford Museum, the Class of ’77 collection will feel instantly familiar to fans present at the game. For club legends Lou Macari, Arthur Albiston and Sammy Macllroy, the sights and sounds of Wembley that day will stay with them forever.
Launching today (30th November), the two-part collection is a must-have for collectors, with each piece of headwear presented in a special celebratory gift box that features archive footage on the inside. Additionally each Retro Series item possesses a unique collectable number to highlight the limited nature of the release. Numbers 1 to 77 will be available to buy at the stadium Megastore, while additional headwear pieces will go on sale at the New Era store on Carnaby Street.
Celebrating the launch, heroes from the day Lou Macari and Arthur Albiston will also be making an appearance at the Carnaby Street New Era flagship store today, from 2pm.
For those fans unable to make it to either location, higher-numbered items will be available and online via newercap.eu. For international shipping, visit store.manutd.com
