Marcelo Partners With DB For Second Travel Collection

Turning his attention away from the pitch to once more focus on the journey, Real Madrid left back Marcelo Vieira has teamed up with startup Scandinavian outdoor brand Db again to launch his second capsule, a nine-piece travel collection.

Imagine how much a professional footballer has to travel. It therefore stands to reason that they may have some pretty decent insight into what makes a good piece of luggage. Real Madrid's Brazilian left back, Marcelo is one such player, and following on from his debut collection back in 2020, he once again combines his insight with that of Db – a company founded in Norway in 2009 by freeski legend Jon Olsson and engineer Truls Brataas with the goal of redefining travel gear to enable better journeys. So some solid knowledge combination right there for the what is the limited 'Marcelo Vieira' collection, which features nine products for short trips, including a custom made Travel Organiser — made for all those essentials we don’t want to stuff into overhead lockers or under our seats when going from A to B.

Along with the travel organiser, the collection features holdalls, rucksacks and grab bags, all of which arrives in black with just a hint of good-luck purple popping through zips and buckles for added definition. That colour has been utilised as it’s taken straight from Marcelo’s lucky wristband that he wears in every game, touching it for luck.

The campaign surrounding the release, titled “Create Your Own Luck”, explores Marcelo's relationship with routines and the products he surrounds himself with to ensure the minute he steps foot on the pitch nothing is left to chance.

Speaking of the collaboration, Marcelo said: “I’m excited to work with brands who find the crossover between sport and design, and this collection is a fun way to start making the kind of products that I go to everyday.

The DB x Marcelo collection launches in limited quantities on 29 April on dbjourney.com for pre-order.
