The Nike Air Max 1 is easily a timeless gem at the heart of those like us that get positively swept away by the power of the swoosh from time to time. This special edition may well be inspired by the cultured capital of Toronto but for us, we're dedicating it to Newcastle fans.
Forgive the tenuous link but as football culture around the world takes it's inspiration from generations gone by, the landscape of sideline or post match attire is forever in shift. It's quite simply the beautiful silhouette of utter perfect black and white that we're using to dedicate this to those fine folk from Tyneside who reside at St James' Park.
This special edition in particular that is inspired by the 6 boroughs of Toronto was created by a Nike designer with Canadian roots (we said it was tenuous) and city-specific features include rubberized coating on the all-white outsole and airbag. Designed to prevent cracking, it is a first for the Air Max silhouette. Additionally, Tech Tough coated leather, buck leathers, technical woven textiles and a waxed lace, exclusive to this release, help combat the elements.
Enduring a tough season on the pitch, off the pitch Newcastle fans are know for bringing their strongest game in looking the part - an equally cultured place to be, consider this an unofficial twinning of two fine cities.
