Scooping the players’ choice award for sheer comfort away from the pitch, the Nike Air VaporMax gets its first new look of 2019, offering a vibrant vibe that screams for attention. Appropriately known as the Nike Air VaporMax Flyknit 2.0 ‘Random’, the sneaker cuts together several colours in a similar fashion to Nike's 'What the' designs.

Reminiscent of the crazy colourings of the original ‘What the Mercurial’ mashup from 2016, the Air VaporMax ‘Random’ features ‘Volt Yellow’ and ‘Hot Pink’ on the left foot and ‘Deep Burgundy’ and ‘Sporty Blue’ on the right, while both are framed by pink mid foot Swooshes and grey heel cages, riding on a translucent sole unit.

The ‘What the’ design theme has been around since 2007, when Nike Skateboarding produced the brand’s first iconic colourway mashup, the Nike SB ‘What the Dunk’ shoe. Then Nike Basketball elevated the concept, celebrating memorable signature basketball shoes beginning with the 'What the Kobe' in 2012. Although this sneaker doesn’t come with the official 'What the' monicker, it’s clear to see where its inspiration comes from.
