As is something of a tradition now, New Balance has once again released one of its trainers decked out in team colours, and this time it’s the 997 that gets paired up with the Liverpool 2019/20 away shirt for an understated way of showing support.
New Balance have made a habit of taking one of their sneaker range each season and wrapping them in the colours of the teams on their roster, offering fans another way to show off their support at the stadium and on the street. Recently we had a 997 decked out in Celtic’s colours, and now we have a 997 for Champions League winners Liverpool, which has been wrapped in the new away shirt stylings for the 2019/20 season.
The Liverpool 2019/20 away shirt features a predominantly white base, meaning that the LFC x 997 trainer has a more traditional and understated look than some of the home shirt-inspired sneakers that we’ve seen, including the Jurgen Klopp-inspired 990 V3 special that dropped back in February. As with the running theme on Liverpool’s shirts this season, Bob Paisley’s signature appears here also, located inside the tongue. The upper is constructed from a white mesh with leather and suede overlays that adopt the navy and red pops that feature on the away shirt, while the LFC crest appears on the tongue and on the insole.
