adidas Originals has announced the launch of the limited edition Blackburn SPZL sneaker, the latest addition to the brand’s iconic City Series line of footwear, and it’s set to be unveiled at a special adidas footwear exhibition in the East Lancashire town.
The adidas SPEZIAL exhibition will showcase the evolution of adidas footwear past and present in Blackburn’s magnificent Cotton Exchange, and it’s been curated by Gary Aspden (Brand consultant and designer of the adidas SPEZIAL range). The exhibition is set to feature shoes from his personal archive alongside those of other fellow adidas collectors, with the showcase featuring over 1000 pairs of adidas trainers. Highlights of the exhibition will be numerous versions of the vintage adidas ‘City Series’ models with a full archive of the adidas SPEZIAL range giving context to the latest City Series silhouette, the adidas Blackburn SPZL.
The adidas Blackburn SPZL is the lead release from the adidas SPEZIAL AW19 range, and its green/red colourway is inspired by the red rose of Lancashire and named after the town where Aspden spent much of his youth. A 200 pair run of the ‘Nightsafe’ edition of the iconic terrace trainer (which carries the Nightsafe logo on its footbed) will be available exclusively from the exhibition. All proceeds will go to the local Nightsafe charity who provide support to homeless youth in Blackburn.
The adidas Blackburn SPZL 'Nightsafe' edition will be available exclusively at the adidas SPECIAL exhibition, and tickets for the event will request donations to the Nightsafe charity.
