Umbro are looking to the past for future-forward inspiration with the second iteration of 1990’s-inspired sneaker collection, Archive Research Project (ARP). The iconic British football brand are making a strong impact on the streetwear scene and having first introduced ARP for SS19, they're back with some more follow up fire.

Leading the charge for AW19 is the ever-popular Umbro NEPTUNE which is given a directional black-on-black makeover for the winter months. Reflective side-straps and panelling provide surface interest to a style which sticks to its original template. Tried and tested design markers include the NEPTUNE’s oversized chunky outsole, mesh toe-box and the sneaker’s characteristic speed-lace system. The NEPTUNE’s black-on-black styling includes embossed Umbro logos on the sides of each shoe with the brand’s instantly recognisable tri-diamond symbol taking pride-of-place on the shoe’s sole unit.

The Neptune is the first ARP drop of the AW19 season and the Double Diamond have bigger plans to come on a couple of other streetwear silhouettes. Umbro are renown for their throwback style and retro vibes while keeping their collections modern and relevant, and the oversized branding of the logo will always nail that 90s feel. It's a presence which the brand have worked hard for and one that they truly own. The Neptune is the latest product of that legacy and the best of ARP for AW19 might well be yet to come.
