Taking its burgeoning relationship with Manchester City to the next level, PUMA launch a special archival capsule to celebrate the club’s 125 year anniversary. The capsule is made up of four trainers that combine stories from Manchester City’s history with styles from PUMA’s archive.
PUMA and Manchester City have only just begun their working relationship, but it has started on a very important year for the club, as they celebrate their 125 year anniversary. The brand have already released a special commemorative jersey, which the team wore in this season’s Community Shield win over Liverpool, and now they move the celebrations on to the next phase.
Comprised of four silhouettes from PUMA’s archive, the capsule celebrates certain moments from the club’s history. The PUMA Blue Star “Kippax” takes its name from the famous terraced stands at the club’s Maine Road stadium. The Kippax was City’s last substantial standing area before Maine Road became an all-seater stadium, 25 years ago – a time when terrace culture was rife.
The PUMA Crack has been presented in two colourways, one that honours Ardwick Association Football Club — Manchester City’s old name — and another celebrating Manchester City’s first ever title win in 2012. Completing the pack, the PUMA Bluebird, here dubbed the ‘Whitworth’, features a Haçienda-inspired black and yellow colourway that ties it in with the club’s 2019/20 away kit in paying tribute to a world-famous musical period in Manchester.
The PUMA x Manchester City 125 Anniversary Capsule will be available from 4 October.
