Continuing their 90s-inspired editions for AW19 Umbro have launched the 'Phoenix' sneaker as part of their Archive Research Project. Dropping as the third silhouette in the series, the Phoenix is the latest design to make a strong impact on the streetwear scenes since Umbro first introduced ARP for SS19.
Brand new for AW19, the Umbro Phoenix takes design cues from the running shoes popularised in the 1990’s by riffing on mixed fabrications. A clean-lined chunky aesthetic and a palette of tonal shades punctuated by pop-bright contrasts delivers a statement look that blends effortlessly into streetwear and fashion circles. The predominantly white upper gets a millennial update with contrasting panels in sky blue, navy blue, and hot pink, while lace sleeves and tongue-stitched lace retainers in emergency yellow provide even more colour pop in emergency yellow.
Combining archive-inspired designs with up-to-the-minute tech-led construction savvy, Umbro’s Archive Research Project has created a trend-leading collection with its chunky overall vibe. With the second chapter of ARP, Umbro has reasserted its credentials as a leader in British sportswear while training the spotlight on forward-thinking sneaker-led design. The iconic British football brand have excelled in streetwear in recent seasons, and the Phoenix is another worthy addition, dropping in a number of colourways.
