Harking back to the original and classic football boot worn by Marco Van Basten in the 90s, Diadora and Danilo Paura complete their AW19 capsule collection with the N9002 ‘Supergoal’ trainer.
Concluding the ‘Craftmanship as a Rule’ collection, streetwear designer, Danilo Paura dives deep into Diadora’s vast vault for inspiration, reworking the classic Supergoal boot – most famously worn by Marco Van Basten – combining it with the N9002 trainer for a football-infused lifestyle trainer.
Danilo Paura and Diadora share several commonalities. Both take huge pride in the artisan expertise of their trade, have a love of Italian workmanship, and retain authenticity at their core. It’s these prime connections that formed the basis of the ‘Craftmanship as a Rule’ collection, which emphasises the Made in Italy quality that both are renowned for.
The silhouette of the OG boot is recreated to modern day perfection, with the sumptuously quilted black leather upper leading up to the lycra and neoprene sock, included in homage to the original built-in sock, which was present for the express purpose of protecting the ankle against the dark arts of that era. This was a good 20 years before the first collared boots of the modern generation – Diadora well ahead of the times.
Interchangeable laces offer the option for a bit more colour, with popping yellow, or a more classic black look. The ‘Craftmanship as a Rule’ mantra is then used as the perfect sign off on the rear of the shoe, placed above the branding on what is an absolute statement sneaker that celebrates the history of the game and one of its greatest proponents.
