Alexander Wang x adidas Originals Launch Sixth & Final Collection

Combining for the sixth and final time, Alexander Wang and adidas Originals produce a capsule for FW19 that mixes the aesthetics of Wang’s disco and soul style with the athletic heritage of the Three Stripes. And amongst the six-piece footwear collection are two ‘B-Ball Soccer’ trainers that combine features from both sports for a hybrid mix of pure pleasure.

New York-based designer Alexander Wang teams up with adidas Originals for a sixth collaborative collection, bringing a close to the partnership. And this collection arrives under a ‘Club Leisure’ header, as Wang fuses athletics with hits of disco and soul style. Taking prime place in the collection in our eyes is the ‘B-Ball Soccer’ trainer, which is presented in two colourways: a “Grey Granite/White” and “Triple Black”, both of which see an upper based on the Copa Mundial placed on a chunky profile inspired by basketball footwear.

The grey option takes on a suede upper, embracing the Originals roots. The Copa Mundial stitching weaves its way across the upper, which is joined by hits of white through the collar and Three Stripes. A nice chunky Boost unit is then placed in the heel, combining nicely with the white trim and detailing throughout the rest of the shoe.

For the triple black option, the upper is constructed from leather for an even more authentic tie to the Copa Mundial. The whole shoe is wrapped in darkness, except for a flash of white Boost seen through the outsole, and the signature reversed branding details on the tongue.

The footwear side of the collection is then rounded out by the Turnout trainer and the Puff trainer, both bringing a futuristic edge to footwear. The slip-on Puff Trainer rocks a sock-like upper with an exaggerated puffer look borrowed from hefty winter wear. The lacing system features a stopper closure on the heel — another cue from technical outwear. The Turnout Trainer fuses design elements from multiple sport sources for a chunky, eclectic finish. All three silhouettes feature Wang’s signature flipped adidas Trefoil plus his own branding callouts throughout.

The Alexander Wang and adidas Originals FW19 collection will release on adidas.com on 14 December.
