It appears as though Kylian Mbappe has received a belated birthday present from none other than Dior Artistic Director Kim Jones, and it just happened to be the first silhouette for the forthcoming Jordan Brand x Dior collection, the Air Jordan I High OG Dior.
Kylian Mbappe is something of a sneaker head, and the PSG superstar striker was recently given his own signature Air Max 98 by Nike as part of his first-ever collection, known as ‘Bondy Dreams’. He shared news of the surprise Air Jordan I High OG Dior gift on his Instagram stories, showing off yet another perk of being the world’s most expensive footballer, despite the gift coming about a month after his 21st birthday.
Along with his interest in sneakers, Mbappe is also a keen basketball fan, and following his meeting with the Charlotte Hornets ahead of their NBA season opener in Paris it would not be a surprise to see the Frenchman court side. And it also wouldn’t be the biggest surprise to see him sporting his new Air Jordan I High OG Dior while he’s at it. If you've got it, flaunt it, and there's not many better places to do that.
Coinciding with the 35th anniversary of the Air Jordan and celebrating the first Dior men’s collection debut in the United States, the collaborative, limited-edition Air Jordan 1 High OG brings together the timeless appeal of the shoe with the emblematic style of Dior, highlighting the cross-culture of America and France and of haute couture and high-performance sportswear – right up Mbappe’s alley then.
The limited-edition Air Jordan I High OG Dior sneaker will be available globally in April 2020 in select Dior stores.
