Bringing together the best from two worlds, Nike are set to drop a special Kylian Mbappé edition of the LeBron 18 — NBA Champion LeBron James' current signature shoe. The colourway combines a greyscale upper with pops of purple, blue, and red and features "KM" branding stamped on the tongue, two mini-Swoosh logos embroidered on the toe, as well as an iridescent heel counter and outsole.
Kylian Mbappé is no stranger to the world of basketball, taking front row seats for last year’s NBA opener in Paris, as well as being snapped mingling with stars from the sport on several occasions. He’s also well versed in the cross over it has with football, being front and centre for the seismic PSG x Jordan collaborations. And now he’s taking that fusion of sports in his stride once more as he links up with Nike on his own signature edition of the LeBron 18 sneaker.
The shoe maintains the same silhouette, but adopts a colour scheme that at once blends the colours of both athlete’s teams, whilst also potentially giving a hint at the look of the upcoming PSG fourth kit drop. The predominantly greyscale Knitposite 2.0 upper is joined by bold purple, blue, and red accents throughout, while the iridescent features are joined by a pearl-like textured heel counter and outsole.
As a further link to the coming together of the two stars and two sports, a pair of inverted Swooshes appear on the toe of the shoe, stitched in red. To finish the design, alongside Mbappé’s branding is LeBron’s ‘King James’ logo, impressed into the heel and on the bottom of the sole. Internally, a special amalgamated graphic of pitch and court is presented on the left insole, with stylised 'LeBron' wording on the right.
