Never to be outdone by their noisy neighbours, LAFC have also teamed up with adidas Originals for a special sneaker drop that’s inspired by terrace culture. This is the LAFC Samba 2.0, and it arrives in a colourway that represents the 2021 away “Heart of Gold” kit.
Few cities in the United States can claim to be the epicenter of soccer like Los Angeles can. The city boasts two of the biggest MLS franchises, side by side, vying for supremacy. One light, one dark, forever rivals, and all anchored by an explosive terrace culture. Yesterday, LA Galaxy unveiled their adidas Galaxy Gazelle sneaker, which dropped in the club’s primary colours of navy, white and blue, and now that’s followed up by the LAFC Samba 2.0, with adidas ensuring they honour both teams and their supporters.
A collaboration with the Los Angeles Football Club, the LAFC Samba 2.0 celebrates the spirit of the club on one of adidas' most iconic silhouettes. With the same vibe as the team's 2021 away “Heart of Gold” kit, they're done up with soft linen, off-white tones and subtle gold accents — a nod to the community's resilience, conductivity and warmth that comes through in its undeniable shine. The club’s crest rides proudly on the tongue, as opposed to the Galaxy Gazelle, which took a more discreet approach, placing it on the insole.
This isn’t the first time that LAFC have got play out of the Samba silhouette though, with this release following last year’s double-up drop, although it keeps things a little more lowkey with less bling on display. A reference to the most vocal and hardcore fans who stand in terraced areas within a stadium, the LAFC Samba 2.0 is sure to be well received.
The LAFC Samba 2.0 will be available starting 13 November at adidas.com
