Football Talk - Kaka backs Beckham deal - 18/02/09
Milan playmaker Kaka has urged the club to force through a deal to keep David Beckham at the San Siro.
Beckham is currently on loan at the Serie A outfit but is due to return to Los Angeles Galaxy on 9th March. Milan have so failed to agree a deal to sign Beckham with the MLS club expecting the midfielder to report back to America as scheduled.
Beckham remains hopeful a deal can be agreed and Kaka believes the former Manchester United and Real Madrid man has established himself as a key member of the Milan side.
"Maybe it was a marketing move at first," Kaka told Sport TV. "But today the truth is that he is fundamental. He is a player that in the last games was very decisive, with passes and goals. I wish Milan can reach a deal to acquire him permanently because he is a player who can help us now and in the next seasons."
Kaka also spoke of his decision to snub the opportunity of a world record move to Manchester City, explaining that his desire to make history at Milan and the support he received from the club's fans made him decide to stay.
"What I represent for Milan and what I have achieved and still want to achieve with Milan was a big factor in my decision," Kaka said. The Brazilian revealed the demonstrations from fans asking him to stay also played a role, especially during the match between Milan and Fiorentina in the midst of the negotiations.
"Everything was very moving," Kaka said. "From the time I got to the stadium to the time I entered the field. During the entire match it was very moving, I couldn't focus."
