Goalkeeper News - Glove Spotting International Special 27/03/09

With the domestic Leagues taking a break for World Cup Qualification and   Internationals, the SoccerBible turns the spotlight to the often unsung heroes of   football - the goalkeepers! We've been glove spotting the British and Irish keepers who   will be hoping to represent their country and their choices of professional   gloves.

England - Ben Foster (Sells Adhesion Ultra Wrap)

Fresh from his Carling Cup winning performance for Manchester United, SocceBible favourite Ben Foster - seen wearing his personalised Sells Wrap Ultra Gloves - has forced his way into Fabio Capello's England Squad, and will be hoping to build on the one and only Cap he has earned so far.

After long spells injured, Foster now seems to be finding the form that  could turn him into England's long term No.1 for the foreseeable future.

Scotland- Allan McGregor (Uhlsport Cerberus Absolutgrip)

Scotland manager George Burley has opted for Rangers Allan McGregor, ahead of Sunderlands' Craig Gordon for this weeks Qualifiers against Holland and  Iceland. Using the phenomenal grip and support offered to him by the Uhlsport Cerberus gloves, McGregor has helped his club to Second in the SPL           and into the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup.

So, in one of the standout fixtures of the week, he will be hoping to deny the Dutch continuing their 100% record in Qualification.

Ireland - Shay Given (Puma V-Konstrukt)

Having completed his £8 million switch from Newcastle to Manchester City, Shay Given is having arguably the season of his life. Having kept City in           the Uefa Cup with his penalty shootout heroics, Given is looking to earn his 88th International Cap, and keep Ireland in contention for qualification from       the tough looking Group 8.

Lets hope that his Puma V-Konstukt gloves, with their added comfort, grip and support, can help him hold up to the test of dealing with the best that Bulgaria and reigning World Champions Italy can throw at him.

Wales - Boaz Myhill (Uhlsport Cerberus)

After a dizzying early season spell at the height of the Premier League, Hulls' Boaz Myhill has hit reality with his teams slide down the table.  However, this week will allow him to forget his relegation worries, and concentrate on keeping top European strikers Mario Gomes, Lukas Podolski and Miroslav Klose at bay.

With that in mind, the Welsh fans will be hoping that the extra grip on the Uhlsport Cerberus Absolutgrip gloves he will be wearing, stop him spilling the ball to one of these great goal poachers.

Northern Ireland - Maik Taylor (Sells Adhesion )

An International player for nearly a decade, Mike Taylor has helped guide  Northern Ireland up the World Rankings in recent years. Whilst he will be           wearing the Sells Adhesion Ultra Evo gloves, this qualification offers perhaps the best chance of Northern Ireland qualifying for the World Cup since 1982, and Taylor will have to be at his best to keep clean sheets against Poland and Slovenia.
