Over 200 countries are voting in this year's Gospels... One World, One Game.
Heritage Boot Winner: adidas adiPure II Black/White
A classy category to win, the adiPure II football boots won by a large margin which could be down to them finding many top fans in the form of Frank Lampard, Xabi Alonso and of course Kaka, who all enjoy the soft feel, ball touch and control these premium boots offer. Now we're the first to admit we loved the original adiPure boot, for it's modern take on a timeless style. It is fair to say we were apprehensive about the launch of the follow up, but now we can confidently say we love these boots! The classy leather upper and new wrap-around style tongue/heel counter are just two examples of why this boot deserved your vote. |
Heritage Boot Runner-Up: Nike Tiempo Legend II White/White
With this Tiempo entry, it was a tough choice between this "Whiteout" boot and the update to the 10R series, the Dois. However it was the classic Legend that won out in that particular head to head, partly thanks to it's uber-clean all-white upper that just begged to be worn. Some of you were worried about the longevity of the boots in keeping their box-fresh cleanliness, but once you slip on a pair of Legends you're reminded as to why they are such a great boot and forget all about keeping them clean and concerntrate on the game!
Supremely comfortable, the traditional centred lacing and Air Zoom heel found many fans across the globe and on pitches up and down the country to finish runner-up in the heritage category. |
Heritage Boot 3rd Place: Nike Tiempo Legend II Black/Volt
This striking entrant was the latest release in Nike's Tiempo series. Already finding fans within the professional elite, the Air Legend II builds on the success of the original Legend with improvements to the heel counter and last, adding to the already premium leather upper and traditional centred lacing system. However this version makes the cut thanks to its retro-influenced Black Volt colourway, which not only stands out for miles but echoes the classic silhouettes from boot history!
After all, that's what a heritage boot is all about, timeless style, class and superb comfort and feel, which saw this Legend finish a respectable 3rd. |
Heritage Boot 4th Place: Puma King XL Black/Yellow
Debuted by Manchester United's Michael Carrick, these Puma King XL boots show that some style never goes out of fashion. Emulating the iconic Pele colourway this new update to the King series celebrates 40 years at the top of the professional game. With a premium leather upper, pro fold-over tongue and rigid stud layout the comfort and feel of the King XL football boots helped these to finish 4th.
Heritage Boot 5th Place: Diadora Brasil Italy Black/Gold
The Diadora Brasil Italy is a timeless classic boot, and was updated for season 2008/09 with this classy Black/Gold edition. With the distinctive large Diadora logo and heel enscription, this boot stands out like no other for class, elegance and practicality. Made from a fully softened, lightweight water resistant K leather upper the Brasil Italy inspires sublime control from the anatomically crafted insole and came a solid 5th place.
Heritage Boot 6th Place: Pantofola D'Oro Lazzarrini Black/Black
An outsider perhaps for this particular Gospel, but with the Pantofola D'Oro series you are guaranteed quality and comfort. Wonderfully soft leather means these Lazzarini football boots fit the foot s shape perfectly giving superb ball control, feel and flexibility. A suitable contender for the award, the class and style helped the Pantofola D'Oro to finish 6th. |
Heritage Boot 7th Place: Umbro Speciali Anatomical Black/White/Gold
A new season update to the classic Speciali series, this time incorporated Umbro's new instep construction designed to make the boot more flexible and supple. Umbro added new elements to the boot, inlcuding a re-design the upper to give the perfect 'second skin' fit. Umbro also changed the tongue system to feature a lower profile fastening over the laces. These boots are championed by Michael Owen, but like the player himself surprisingly under-performed and came in 7th place.
Heritage Boot 8th Place: Lotto Stadio Perla Black/Black
The Perla has been inspired from a long line of Stadio collection boots from Italian masters Lotto. The soft, full grain leather upper offers instant comfort and feel whilslt Lotto update the series with the inclusion of Punto Flex at the front end of the boot, designed to offer you less resistance and more elasticity in each stride. Another outsider granted, but a classic boot that can't be ignored. The simple yet stylish nature of the Stadio Perla perhaps didn't do enough to capture your vote.
