Football News - Premier League relegation battles - 01/05/09
With only 4 games left this Season, the fight to stay in the Premier League is really hotting up! Any three of six could be playing in the Championship next season, so we thought we would take a look at the bottom 6 teams and the key players that they will be hoping can keep them up.
Blackburn Rovers 15th - 37 Points Games Left: Man City (A); Portsmouth (H); Chelsea (A); West Brom (H). Key Man: Benni McCarthy Revitalised under the stewardship of Big Sam, Blackburn have been steadily climbing up the table. 40 points should see them safe, and home games against Pompey and West Brom give them a great chance of survival. However, missing last seasons top scorer Santa Cruz; they will be relying on the international experience of South Africa s Benni McCarthy and his Nike Tiempo Legend II football boots, to shoot them clear of the drop zone.

Sunderland 16th - 35 Points
Games Left: Everton (H); Bolton (A); Portsmouth (A); Chelsea (H). Key Man: Kenwyne Jones Black Cats fans will be hoping that the Trinidad and Tobago star Jones, wearing Puma v1.08 football boots, can fire Sunderland clear of the Relegation zone, and with 2 away games against Portsmouth and Bolton, there is a real chance that he will.

Hull City 17th - 34 Points
Games Left: Aston Villa (A); Stoke (H); Bolton (A); Man Utd (H). Key Man: Geovanni Despite Hull s fantastic start to the season, their recent form has been woeful with only one win in 18 league games. The Tigers will be hoping that Brazilian Geovanni, seen in his Umbro Speciali football boots, will be able to unleash some magic, much like his goal against Arsenal at the Emirates. But with 2/4 games against the top 5 teams things do not look good!

Newcastle United 18th - 31 Points
Games Left: Liverpool (A); Middlesbrough (H); Fulham (H); Aston Villa (A). Key Man: Michael Owen Since the arrival of Alan Shearer, St James Park has been beaming with Optimism. However, their lack of goals in recent weeks is a real cause for concern and Magpies fans will be hoping for a timely return to form of England striker Michael Owen, who plays in Umbro Speciali football boots. The home game against local rivals Middlesbrough is a MUST win for the Toon Army.

Middlesbrough 19th - 31 Points
Games Left: Man Utd (H); Newcastle (A); Aston Villa (H); West Ham (A) Key Man: Stewart Downing The lowest scoring team in the division, and with games against 2 of the top 5 teams plus a local derby away at Newcastle, things are looking bleak for Boro. Will England winger Downing, in adidas adiPure II football boots, be out to impress possible buyers in the event of Boro going down?

|
West Brom 20th - 28 Points
Games Left: Spurs (A); Wigan (H); Liverpool (H); Blackburn (A) Key Man: Jonathan Greening Time looks like it may be up for the Baggies, who are 6 points off safety with only 4 games left, but captain Jonathan Greening will be reminding his teammates of the side that achieved the 'great escape' on the last day of 2005 season. So with physical games against battlers Wigan and Blackburn his adidas Predator Control football boots are the ideal boot for a strong midfield tussle.
