Manchester United Premier League champions - 18/05/09
<
Our congratulations go to Manchester United who claimed their third successive Premier League title! With impressive performances throughout the team, SoccerBible takes a unique look at the players and football boots who have performed well this season, helping us to arrive at our Manchester United team of 2008/09!
We've picked out our star performers based on our exclusive Manchester United SoccerBible stats, and unsurprisingly Cristiano Ronaldo leads the way! Scoring 18 league goals from Nike Mercurial Vapor football boots, the top goalscoring football boots at the club. Cristiano Ronaldo hit some stunning goals and made some breath-taking runs through-out the season, he has been at the top of his game wearing a new pair of boots the Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly football boots.
United's success has been based on a solid defence, and Nemanja Vidic has undoubtedly been formidable at the back this season. Vidic has been first to the ball both in the air and on the ground, with unrivalled strength to beat opposition attackers. To deliver this strength onto the pitch, Vidic has been wearing the Puma v-Konstrukt III which are unsurprisingly a power boot.
Van der Sar went an incredible 1,311 minutes without conceding a goal in the Premier League, a period which sent Manchester United's confidence sky-high as they were unbeatable! To achieve this feat Van der Sar was wearing the latest adidas FingerSave gloves, a brand the Dutchman has performed in for over ten years!
We have selected our SoccerBible Manchester United team of the season based on appearances, goals and performances. There is an interesting mix of football boots throughout the team, including different brands as well as different speed, power and heritage football boots.
A few interesting boot choices are Ferdinand and Evra in defence choosing the kangaroo leather Nike Lasers, whilst Rooney wears the synthetic Lasers which give a more aggressive ball contact. Also, midfielders Carrick and Park are wearing classy heritage boots with responsive leather uppers assisting ball touch, whilst speed attacking players Ronaldo and Giggs have lightweight boots with synthetic uppers.
Got any opinions on our Manchester United XI?
