Boot Spotting - Confederations Cup Semi Final 25/06/09

The first Confederations Cup semi-final served up a shock result, showing that anything can happen in football. What was billed from the outset as the ultimate David versus Goliath match-up, the USA overcame Spain, the current world undisputed No. 1 team, to book their place in the Confeds Cup Final on Sunday.

Spain hadn t lost since November 2006,with 15 consecutive victories and 35 straight matches without a loss. Even more impressive was the 451 straight minutes with conceding. But all of that came to an end last night when first Altidore and then Dempsey struck to give the USA a 2-0 win and book their place in their first ever World Final.

It was the Americans impressive workrate and constant running that won the match for them, and interestingly both Altidore and Dempsey were wearing brand new top-end speed boots.

Altidore was playing in the adidas F50i football boots, and scored the USA's first goal. Benefiting from interchangeable studs and insole, with a new single layer SprintSkin upper for improved touch and feel for the ball. Altidore took the ball well from a Dempsey pass, used his strength to turn his defender and then hammered the ball home for a shock USA lead.

Clint Dempsey sealed victory with a 74th minute goal that sent ripples around the footballing world! Wearing platinum Nike Vapor Superfly football boots Dempsey was energetic throughout the match, and arrived late in the box to tap capitalise on a Ramos error. Sending the USA into the Confederations Cup final, and complete a good showing for speed football boots.
