Well, what looks like an act of defiance from both players, because we'd normally expect to see Terry in Umbro Speciali football boots and Cole in adidas F50 football boots, has a perfectly reasonable explanation.
John Terry is one of Umbro's leading players, so there was a sharp intake of breath when he was spotted wearing adidas adiPure II football boots. However, after the SoccerBible consulted Umbro we found out they were completely aware Terry was wearing the adiPure's. Because there was a delay in transit of his new Umbro Speciali football boots, and why Terry blacked out the adidas logo.
As for Ashley Cole, it turns out the player is a free agent when it comes to selecting football boots because his contract with adidas has come to an end. The SoccerBible can only speculate that Cole has asked his colleagues for recommendations, and leading Puma v1.08 football boots wearer Nicolas Anelka has recommended the new boots to him.
