ALONSO OUT, CATTERMOLE IN?


- Liverpool have given Real Madrid 48 hours to complete the signing of Xabi Alonso, with the Spanish giants set to make an improved bid of between £28million and £30million. (The Times)

- Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez will use the money from the Alonso deal to fund two shock signings. Keen to add more English players to his squad Benitez is preparing a £12million bid for Wigan midfielder Lee Cattermole and will offer Hull £5.5million for defender Michael Turner.
