SoccerBible Review of 2009 Part 3
SEPTEMBER 2009
On the SoccerBible...
We wandered 'How Big Football Can Get' with the new advert for FIFA 2010. It was an unprecedented day for adidas and Puma, as the rival brands united for Peace Day, and the new Puma v1.10 football boots were debuted on pitches around the world, Andrei Arshavin told us how he would Make The Difference this season and adidas split their Premium Pack.
In Football Boot Releases...
We got our hands on the striking new Puma v1.10 football boots, which had a completely unique design and two bold colourways. And whilst we're talking about bold colourways, Nike released the orion blue Vapor Superflys. We also began our countdown to the release of the adidas Predator X football boots, by taking a look back at every Predator incarnation.
Around the World in Football...
Chelsea were handed a transfer ban stretching till 2011 for improper conduct, Adebayor went mental and lost the plot playing against old side Arsenal. Whilst another ex-Arsenal player amusing us was Jens Lehmann, who was dropped by his club for after attending a beer festival!
OCTOBER 2009
On the SoccerBible...
We notched up a couple of big interviews by first bagging Cesc Fabregas and then Darren Bent, and were in a generous mood giving away pairs of Nike CTR360 Maestri and adidas Predator X football boots. And we enjoyed a great viral video as Umbro played Kasabian football hero.
In Football Boot Releases...
It was one of the biggest launches of the year and one of the most controversial, as opinions were divided over the Predator X the tenth generation of the adidas Predator, one of the most successful football boots ever. And for one of the events of the year, the SoccerBible had front row seats to see the official launch of the Nike CTR360 Maestri football boots with Cesc Fabregas. Causing quite a stir, the CTR's were a brand new boot range from Nike designed to deliver ball control.
Around the World in Football...
FIFA disgusted a lot of players by deciding to seed the World Cup play-offs which included France and Portugal. David Beckham's LA Galaxy won the western conference in the MLS, Real Madrid were gutted as Cristiano Ronaldo faced a month on the sidelines through injury and Pepe Reina was deceived by a red beach ball!
NOVEMBER 2009
On the SoccerBible...
Our boot spotters were out in force to find out which players had the X Factor by wearing the new adidas Predator X football boots, and David Beckham and Steven Gerrard showed us the Power of X. We debated whether ball technology had gone too far, and celebrated Ryan Giggs' scoring his 100th Premier League goal.
In Football Boot Releases...
We got a closer look at the David Beckham adidas Predator X football boots, loved the new adidas F50i green colourway, and marvelled at the bold design of the Kehinde Wiley Puma v1.10 football boots!
Around the World in Football...
Thierry Henry caused utter outrage after his blatant handball helped France to qualify for the World Cup at Ireland's expense. A massive blow for Arsenal as Robin Van Persie was ruled out for possibly the rest of the season, and football payed their respects to Robert Enke, the brilliant German goalkeeper who tragically took his own life.
DECEMBER 2009
On the SoccerBible...
We were on the edge of our seats as the draw was made for the 2010 World Cup, and we are taught how to say 'Jabulani' the name of the new World Cup ball. The SoccerBible celebrated Christmas and New Year with our fans by reviewing 2009 and taking a look at the festive football boots.
In Football Boot Releases...
In December we were spoilt with new football boots, as there were some incredible boots released. Nike continued to redefine football boots with the launch of the Nike T90 Laser III football boots, and they continued to wow us with new Vapor and Superfly colourways. And they still found time to acknowledge their origins, with the Nike Tiempo Premier boots a tribute to their 1994 football boots. But it wasn't all Nike, as adidas got in on the action by launching the third generation of adidas adiPure football boots, with some classy colourways and new features.
Around the World in Football...
Lionel Messi is crowned European and World Player of the year, the Champions League draw sees Beckham return to Manchester United and Jose Mourinho to Chelsea, and Mark Hughes is shocked to be sacked and immediately replaced by Roberto Mancini.
At the SoccerBible we'd like to thank our fans for their support during 2009, and we look forward to sharing a great footballing year in 2010, Happy New year...
