Real Madrid were defeated in Spain, Rangers increased their lead at the top of the SPL, AC Milan closed in on rivals Inter, whilst Bordeaux were held by Marseille and just five points separate the top five in Germany!







Real Madrid slipped to their third loss of the season beaten 1-0 by Athletic Bilbao, allowing Barcelona to open up a five-point lead at the top after they cruised to a 4-0 victory over Sevilla. Valencia sealed a third straight win, with David Villa on target in a 4-1 victory over local rivals Villarreal.

Bayern Munich eased to a 2-0 success against Hoffenheim, with Demichelis scoring their first goal. This put Bayern temporarily top, unitl 24 hours later when Bayer Leverkusen rallied to overcome Mainz 4-2 at home, with second-placed Schalke hot on their heels after disposing of Nurnberg.

Inter Milan came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Bari in a match of three penalties. They remain top but have allowed AC Milan to move within six points of the pace-setters with a game in hand, thanks to a comfortable 4-0 victory over Siena. Elsewhere, Juventus fell to a fourth loss in five matches!

Rangers now hold a nine-point advantage over Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premier League. Celtic were held to a 1-1 draw with Falkirk, allowing Rangers to increase their lead courtesy of a Nacho Novo goal at Hamilton. Dundee United climbed above Hibernian after defeating their opponents 1-0.

League leaders Bordeaux were denied the full three-points against Marseille, with Benoit Cheyrou cancelling out Marouane Chamakh's opening goal. Lille maintained their superb form with a seventh win on the spin defeating PSG 3-1, whilst Lyon triumphed 2-0 over AS Nancy.
