Football Boots - Bumper Weekend Boot Spotting 25/01/10
The busy domestic weekend in England saw a few notable suprise results and plenty of football boots on show!. Our keen boot spotters spied some players changing their cleats and some players who still prefer to wear their old football boots...
STEPHEN IRELAND You wait ages for one to come along, then you get a selection all at once! Stephen Ireland, shown here doing his best Superman impression, makes it a hat-trick of top flight Nike Mercurial wearers who have been sporting the White/Pink flash edition. Those of you who are familar with Ireland's unique taste and choice of colours will like us not be surprised at his choice of boots, we're just surprised it has taken him this long to change up!

WAYNE ROONEY Not a new boot spotting of course, but we had to acknowledge the United striker's phenomenal 4 goal haul against Hull, wearing the Nike T90 Laser III's in electric green. And certainly has been Rooney that is electric this season as he is almost single handedly pushing United on in the title race.

DENILSON The new Laser III appears to be gaining popularity amongst the top pro's, as Denilson made the switch to the k-leather version for the cup tie at Stoke. A change that brought him a (albeit slight deflected) goal which would have been a highlight on an otherwise miserable afternoon for the Gunners, as they crashed out of the FA Cup.

JERMAIN BECKFORD Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly football boots The name everyone was talking about on Saturday night - Leeds' star forward notched up another brace of Cup goals to go with his Old Trafford strike. Wearing the Black/Volt Superfly soccer shoes, Beckford equalised once then was on hand to coolly slot away an injury time penalty with ensured Leeds a deserved replay and take Spurs back to Elland Road.

|
ROMAN PAVLYUCHENKO We're used to seeing super-subs change games, and Pavlyuchenko's cameo appearance got Spurs a vital goal in their cup match with Leeds. Pavlyuchenko, like team mates Jermain Defoe and Gareth Bale, sported the F50i macaw colour soccer cleats as he linked up beautifully to notch Spurs' second of the match.

JOHN TERRY Umbro Speciali football boots A potential tricky away tie to Preston held no great worry for the Chelsea machine and captain John Terry showed his style wearing the customised "Tailored" edition of the Umbro Specialis. Chosen by John from over 4,000 entries, these boots are another in the series made famous by Deco last week. Terry's boots feature a unique "shoe" inspired design across the sole, and ensured he was peerless in defence once again.

DARREN BENT Umbro Speciali football boots Making it a Speciali double this week is Sunderland's super striker Darren Bent. We've seen Darren's famous Twitter football boots, but he's gone one better now with these awesome Dynamite design custom Speciali's, which can only go to increasing his reputation as an explosive player in front of goal! (ok...we'll get our coats).

JOHN UTAKA Puma v1.06 football boots We know times are hard at Portsmouth at present, but if anyone can afford new cleats it's surely Premier League footballers. So we were surprised to see two-goal hero John Utaka sporting these old camo Puma v1.06 Tricks football boots! OK, we're joking of course, footballers can wear whatever they want, as team mate Kevin Prince-Boateng (also pictured) demonstrated with the White/Pink Flash Nike Mercurial cleats! |

BOUDEWIJN ZENDEN
It might feel like this weekend's boot spotting is has gone over board on new Nike football boots, but as more pros convert to the Laser III cleats we'll be the first to bring them to you here at the SoccerBible! A former Mizuno pro, Zenden is back in English football with the Black Cats of Sunderland but sported the Electric Green T90 Laser III boots during his side's defeat to Portsmouth.

|
CRISTIANO RONALDO A special boot spot for all the Ronaldo and Mercurial fans out there (we know there are plenty of you!) as everyone's favourite CR9 changed from the Orion Blue to the Vibrant Yellow Superfly boots this weekend. The former Man Utd hero had an eventful game in the new boots, registering an impressive first half double against Malaga before seeing red!
