Football Boots - European Round Up - 23/02/10

Every week the SoccerBible rounds-up the best European domestic action, football boots on show and the star performers.

Real Madrid hit six goals past Villarreal, Barcelona were also victorious and Inter Milan were held for a third game on the trot!  Elsewhere, Montpellier failed to move level on points with Bordeaux, unlike Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich who remain locked on the same points...

After a rare loss last week, Barcelona returned to winning ways hitting four goals past Racing Santander, with Andres Iniesta opening the scoring. But Real Madrid have kept within two points after demolishing Villarreal 6-2 at the Bernabeu.

In other results, third-placed Sevilla came from a goal down against Mallorca to secure a 3-1 victory, and Deportivo La Coruna saw off bottom-of-the-table Xerez, who look doomed for the drop!

Bayern Munich played out a 1-1 stalemate at Nurnberg, whilst third-placed Schalke were shocked to be defeated by Wolfsburg, who recorded their first win in 11 attempts! Borussia Dortmund defeated Hannover, while four goals from Cacau helped Stuttgart beat Cologne.

Montpellier missed out on the chance to move level on points with leaders Bordeaux, who were victorious in French Cup action, after they were beaten 1-0 by St Etienne. Which has allowed third-placed Lille to move within one point, who were 2-1 winners over Rennes thanks to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's late goal.

Elsewhere, Michel Bastos bagged a hat-trick in Lyon's 4-0 triumph over Sochaux while Mamadou Niang also scored a trio of goals as Marseille defeated Nancy 3-1.
