Sevilla's Luis Fabiano has won the Samba d Or (Samba Gold) 2009 Award, beating Julio Cesar of Inter Milan and Kaka of Real Madrid, by being voted the best Brazilian footballer playing in Europe.
Luis Fabiano officially received his Samba Gold 2009 award for the Best Brazilian player in the European Leagues yesterday, at the Sanchez Pizjuan stadium in Seville. Fabiano commented that he was very proud and happy because it was a very good year and wanted to share the prize with his teammates because without them there, would not have been possible to win this award".
The Samba d'Or ("Samba Gold") is a football award given to the best Brazilian footballer in Europe, as awarded by the Sambafoot Association. The Samba d'Or is determined by three voter panels: the Sambafoot Association, fellow footballers, and votes from Internet users.
Last year the Samba d'Or was awarded to midfielder KakÁ who obtained 25% of the vote, beating second placed Robinho and third placed Luis Fabiano. This year the voting went as followed:

2. Julio CÉsar (Inter Milan) - 17.58%
3. Kaka (Real Madrid) - 16.35%
4. Pato (AC Milan) - 4.99%
5. Grafite (Wolfsburg) - 4.86%
6. Daniel Alves (FC Barcelona) - 4.74%
7. Alex (Spartak Moscow) - 4.04%
8. Maicon (Inter Milan) - 3.43%
9. Naldo (Werder) - 3.14%
10. Fernandinho (Donetsk) - 2.76%
