Football Talk - Mourinho denies Ghana reports - 26/04/10

Jose Mourinho has dismissed reports claiming he is to coach Ghana in their World Cup campaign. It was claimed over the weekend that Ghana had made the Portuguese a $1million deal to manage them in South Africa.

The reports came despite the fact Ghana already have Serbian Milovan Rajevac in charge of the national side.  But Mourinho insisted that he would not be coaching at the World Cup finals.

"After my last match with Inter Milan, I will be on holiday and no way will I join any national team at the World Cup," Mourinho said in a statement.  "So, every word about my participation in the WC 2010 is completely untrue."

The Ghana FA were also quick to deny that they had made any such approach to Mourinho.  "We are going to the World Cup with Milovan Rajevac, whom the FA has faith in," said Ghanaian FA spokesman Randy Abbey.  "We have lots of respect for Jose Mourinho likewise we have for Rajevac, a wonderful coach who is out there doing his job ahead of the World Cup.

"Ghana's plans to the World Cup does not include Mourinho and no such decision has been taken to call on any technical person for assistance."
