Football News - ITV's £1.5m Nike ad blunder
Nike may withhold a £1.5 million payment to ITV because they cut the end off their breathtaking new 'Write The Future' advert after the Champions League final!
The three-minute ad, showcased on the SoccerBible in an exclusive preview on Thursday evening, features such stars as Wayne Rooney, Didier Drogba and Cristiano Ronaldo. The ad was screened simultaneously in 32 countries, but ended 10 seconds early - before the Nike logo could be displayed. ITV were due to receive the bumper payment from Nike for the primetime slot immediately after the final whistle - but may now have to write it off!
"It is disappointing," said a Nike spokeswoman. "We're waiting to hear back from ITV." Whilst ITV spokesman James Macleod said: "We are looking into the cause of the issue and are in close dialogue with Nike about it."
The 'Write the Future' ad was directed by Mexican star Alejandro Inarritu, and is Nike's global message during 2010 and at this summer's World Cup. An incredible cast list of stars have signed up for the campaign, including Wayne Rooney, Roger Federer, Kobe Bryant, Cristiano Ronaldo and Homer Simpson!
