The World Cup takes a day off after 18 relentless days of footballing action which have taken the sport by storm. We've witnessed some highs and lows, but the quarter final line-up is now complete, with just eight teams remaining out of the 32 that started.

Spain completed the quarter final line-up with a 1-0 victory over rivals Portugal, once again David Villa was the star of the show grabbing the headlines in a game which also featured a relatively quiet Cristiano Ronaldo!

After much discussion on various forums and blogs, we've had a close look at Xavi's adidas Predator X football boots, and can confirm the Spanish playmaker has indeed had his Predator element removed!

We all know how superstitious Fernando Torres is when it comes to his football boots, so it's no surprise to see the under-performing Spanish striker change out of the Elites into his white leather Nike T90 Laser III football boots.

Our Play of the Day comes from the only goal scored in open play on day 18 of the World Cup - a crucial winning goal from David Villa. Villa is having a storming World Cup wearing the new adidas F50 adiZero football boots, as he was once again on the end of some great Spanish play.

Some excellent close control and passing on the edge of the Portuguese area from Andres Iniesta, found Xavi in the area who expertly flicked the ball into the path of David Villa to strike the ball beyond the goalkeeper at the second time of asking.
