Football Boots Spotting Bonus Edition 12/08/10
A bonus boot spotting for our SoccerBible fans here, checking out the midweek internationals and friendlies. There was some great football boots on show, with unique colourways and a brand new boot debut, and to round off this edition of boot spotting we've even managed to throw in a couple of random spots...
Steven Gerrard (England) adidas Predator X |
Gerrard was inspired against Hungary and in typical style single-handedly led his teams fightback, with two sublime goals wearing the Black/Cyan release of the adidas Predator X football boots. Infact Gerrard's thumping first goal summed up perfectly all what the Predator series of football boots are about. (Yes, yes, we know, its the player not the boots etc). |
Robbie Keane (Ireland) NikeID T90 Laser III |
As the SoccerBible gave you a sneak peak at Keane's custom Nike T90 Laser III football boots before he took to the pitch, it was inevitable he was going to feature in this Boot Spotting! Celebrating and commemorating winning his 100th international cap, Nike created a bespoke pair of T90 Laser III football boots featuring unique personalisation, and a colourway that's a tribute to the Irish colours. |
Damien Duff (Ireland) Pantofola d'Oro Lazzarini Canguro |
An interesting boot spot for the Irish midfielder, who wore the very low-key Pantofola d'Oro Lazzarini boots against Argentina. For those not in the know, Pantofola d'Oro's are pure Italian craftmanship with some of the softest k leather uppers ever seen on a pair of boots. Duff, who regularly wears adidas adiPure boots, was spotted wearing the stylish Lazzarini versions in a traditional soft ground stud config. A choice heartily endorsed from the SoccerBible team! |
Hatem Ben Arfa (France) adidas F50 adizero |
We should soon start to call this section "adizero spotting", as another player has been spied making the switch to The Most Popular Boot on the Planet Right Now (TM). A fan of speed boots, Ben Arfa notched up an international goal in the Chameleon editions of the adidas F50. |
Julian de Guzman (Toronto FC) Valsport Audace Carbon |
We often focus on the big brand Nike and adidas, but sometimes we have to share a spot for a player who choose to stand out from the masses with an individual boot choice. That's just what Toronto FC's Julian de Guzman has done, sporting the classy and highly under-rated Valsport Audace Carbon boots recently. |
Andrea Dossena (Napoli) Mizuno Supersonic Wave |
A pre-season friendly from earlier in the week and Napoli new recruit Dossena continues his love for Mizuno boots, this time spotted wearing the Supersonic Wave, from Mizuno's hybrid control/touch boot series. |
Paolo Cannavaro (Napoli) Bikkembergs Tirosegno |
From the same match, we couldn't resist sharing Cannavaro's Bikkembergs as they simply are unlike anything else out there! These Tirosegno's come in plenty of colour options, with that distinctive circular pattern making them hard to miss. Even if to us they look like they belong in the custom boots section of EA Sport's FIFA 10... |
Roland Juhasz (Hungary) adidas F50 adiZero |
Making his way into our boot spotting inbox is the Anderlecht and Hungary defender's adidas F50 adizero boots. Initially, these leather versions looked like the work of some custom miadidas versions, until on closer inspection it seems Juhasz isn't a fan of the Ultra Pink trim! The tongue has been blacked out which from a distance does make these custom adizeros stand out. Now just to disguise those pink studs... |
Antonio Cassano (Italy) |
David Beckham (LA Galaxy) |
In his home nation Antonio Cassano s return to the international setup may have been intensified by the famous No.10 which he opted to wear, but for us it was more to do with the mega-vibrant Diadora Kobra boots he chose to match with the Azzuri Italy kit! |
Over to Los Angeles now, as David Beckham sported his own red Predator X colourway in the California heat. The Galaxy star was being put through his paces at a training session, whilst his former England team mates were taking to the field at Wembley. |
Boot Spy kudos goes out to Boot Hunter, Piet Bekaert, Rodrigo V and Romario who were amongst the first into our inbox with their finds.
If there are any players and boots you've spotted and think should feature on this page, mail us at: u2us@soccerbible.com putting 'Boot Spotting' in the subject field.
