Football Boots Spotting - Midweek Update
The new football season has well and truly kicked off around Europe and the rest of the world. As a result our SoccerBible inbox has been filling up with some great spots, by YOU the boot fans. So here's our midweek update, of the best boot spots from the SoccerBible fans and our resident boot spotters...
Tedjar Saad (JS Kabylie) Nike T90 Laser III |
A great boot spot from SoccerBible user Willaim Keene, who found this player from Algerian side JS Kabylie, wearing what looks like the brand new Nike T90 Laser III colourway. Featuring an all-black kangaroo leather upper, this new T90 Laser III boot is broken up by a yellow ShotShield and heel counter. |
Henri Bienvenu (Young Boys) Puma v1.10 |
A shock was on the cards after Bienvenu scored a second goal for the Young Boys, demonstrating the speed of the v1 range, Bienvenu left Michael Dawson in his wake as he burst through on goal. Interestingly Bienvenu is one of the few players we've spotted wearing the new v1.10 colourway. |
Roman Pavlyuchenko (Tottenham) adidas F50 adiZero |
Pavlyuchenko scored a crucial goal which could well help send Tottenham through to the group stages of the Champions League. It was a thunderous shot from Pavlyuchenko, who was sporting his new adiZero's and we noticed the Russian forward is in the minority as he is wearing the synthetic versions. |
Wayen Rooney (Manchester United) Nike T90 Laser III |
Okay, so it's no big surprise that Rooney is wearing the new red T90 Laser colourway. But we've decided to showcase the boots as they are a great match for the United home strip, and this picture re-instates the theory Fergie likes his players to wear a soft-ground sole-plate, hence why Rooney isn't wearing the Elite versions. |
Joey Barton (Newcastle United) adidas Predator X |
Aside from Barton sporting the new Predator X football boots, he is also sporting a rather snazzy moustache which he won't shave until Newcastle win a Premier League game, but we thought the look was reminiscent of cult favourite Phillipe Albert. |
James Beattie (Rangers) Puma v1.10 |
Another player spotted wearing the latest synthetic Puma v1.10 football boots is new Rangers striker James Beattie. A fan of the v1 range, Beattie's football boots are a great match for the retro-styled Rangers home football kit. |
Robert Earnshaw (Nottingham Forest) Nike Vapor II |
Over six months ago we spotted Rob Earnshaw wearing his Nike Vapor II football boots, a boot originally released back in 2004. A bright and bold boot choice, Earnshaw has turned down a host of modern football boots and is continuing to wear the boots that were a firm favourite among Vapor fans. |
Jose Enrique (Newcastle United) adidas World Cup |
In the modern era of football boots, it's always refreshing to see a player wearing a boot classic at the highest levels of the game. Newcastle's Jose Enrique was wearing the adidas World Cup football boots at Old Trafford, a boot that's been a performer for over twenty years! |
Yossi Benayoun (Chelsea) Nike Vapor Superfly I |
Benayoun surprised us all by wearing the blue Vapor Superfly I football boots, after wearing the adiZero's throughout pre-season and for the Community Shield. The pair Benayoun was wearing, featured the original sole-plate, after a recent host of Superfly wearers wore customised sole-plates. |
Kenwyne Jones (Stoke City) Mizuno Supersonic Wave |
One of the talking points from the weekend was Kenwyne Jones wearing the new Supersonic Wave, Mizuno's latest lightweight K leather football boot. In actual fact, our friends at Mizuno got in touch to inform us that Kenwyne had referenced the SoccerBible when asking for a pair of the SuperSonic Wave! And you can check out the review that seemed to impress Kenwyne by clicking here! |
Yaya Toure (Man City) Blackout T90 Laser Elite |
After an initial glance we thought Toure had switched out of Nike and into Puma, because his boots looked like Tricks versions. However, a closer inspection revealed Yaya Toure is still in the Nike Laser's, although he's opted to black-out his Elite versions. |
Marcus Piossek (Rot Weiss Ahlen) adidas Predator X Women |
We always wonder whether players are aware they've got women's versions, or if they've just payed attention to the colourway. Although Piossek's Predators are a great match for the Rott Weiss football kit, the women's Predator X football boots are unique in that they feature a smaller heel. |
Michael McGlinchey (Central Coast Mariners) Puma PowerCat 1.10 |
The silver PowerCats were released at the same time as the black/red versions, but whilst we've seen a variety of players sporting the black/reds, we had yet to see anyone in the eye-catching silver editions. That was until a great spot in the Australian A League, of midfielder Michael McGlinchey of Central Coast Mariners, who is actuallya a former Celtic graduate. |
Juan Pablo Angel (New York Red Bulls) miadidas adidas F50 adiZero |
It seems Juan Pablo Angel has quite a collection of adidas F50 adiZero's at home, as he has worn about three or four different colourways recently! But these customised pair are definitely the most unique versions, although we wonder where he has got his inspiration. |
Mesut Ozil (Werder Bremen) Nike Vapor Superfly |
A player who greatly enhanced his reputation after a string of impressive World Cup performances, now Ozil is back in Germany playing for Werder Bremen wearing the latest cactus green Nike Vapor Superfly II football boots. Our close-up shows Ozil's personalisation, and how he likes to have his laces, with a knot and cut short! |
Vedran Corluka (Tottenham Hotspur) Puma King XL |
It's been a quiet summer for the Puma King without any new colourway releases, but Vedran Corluka has remained loyal and was spotted wearing the classy looking white Unity versions. Corluka will be one of the players looking forward to the upcoming release of the new Puma King football boots. |
Louis Saha (Everton) adidas F50 adiZero |
Despite recently wearing the chameleon versions, Saha has created his own bespoke pair of adidas F50 adizero boots. Initially, these leather versions looked like a classic two-tone miadidas version, until on closer inspection it seems Saha has attempted to black-out the tongue and studs, which surprises us when you consider he is wearing a pink football shirt! |
Gary Taylor-Fletcher (Blackpool) NikeID CTR360 Maestri |
We haven't seen a pair of customised CTR360 Maestri's for a little while, so we enjoyed Gary Taylor-Fletcher's versions celebrating the Blackpool colours. And both Blackpool and Taylor-Fletcher had plenty to celebrate this weekend, after scoring their first Premier League goal before going on to defeat Wigan 4-0, an unbelievable result! |
