SoccerBible Brand Focus: Joma
To many Joma are a relatively new and unknown brand, but what boot fans may not realise is that Joma have been producing quality football boots for over 40 years!
Established in 1965 in Portillo de Toledo, Joma have grown to become the largest football gear manufacturer in Spain, the current home of the World Cup and European Championship trophy. So we're assuming they know a thing or to about what a footballer needs to perform!
As a brand, Joma have become more prominant in recent seasons thanks to some great boot releases. Rather than attempting gimmicky boots with innovative materials and technology to get noticed, Joma have stuck to what they know best, constructing quality leather football boots, to a high standard of craftsmanship.
Joma created their first football boot back in 1965, when the company was made up of a modest 8 employees! Since that first boot, Joma's reputation has grown thanks to their use of some of the world's finest premium grade leather from one of the most renowned leather producing regions - right on their doorstep!
Joma's reputation grew during the 1980's as they produced some of the most comfortable and sought after boots, which led to the endorsement of Real Madrid players Martin Vasquez and Butragueno in the late 1980's. Since this time, Joma's portfolio has included some great players and football clubs, most notably Fernando Morientes and Real Madrid. In more recent times, Joma can boast such players as Frederic Kanoute, Pepe Reina, Ivan Helguera and Pablo Hernandez.
The current range of Joma football boots includes such favourites as the Joma Total Fit, Joma Aguila and the Joma Granada Pulsar. All of which feature a soft and comfortable kangaroo leather upper, offering supreme natural ball feel and touch. The flagship boot is arguably the Total Fit(shown below), which has been constructed from one single piece of K leather, removing the need for any internal stitching for enhanced fit and feel.
Joma are one of those brands to keep an eye on over the coming years, their stock and popularity has been steadily rising. There has never been any doubt that Joma construct quality football boots, and with the prominance of Spanish football at the moment, we'll definitely be keeping a keen eye on their player uptake and boot releases.
