Weekend Football Boots Spotting 13/09/10

Weekend Football Boots Spotting 13/09/10

The midweek European matches in the UEFA Champions League and Europa League threw up some interesting boot spotting, check out who wore what this week...

Image Image

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (AC Milan) Nike Tiempo Premier

Making his Champions League debut for the other Milan side, Ibrahimovic started the game in the retro-cool Nike Tiempo Premier football boots - however disappointingly for us boot spotting fans notched his two goals in the catcus colour of the Mercurial Vapor Superfly II

Dani Alves (Barcelona) Nike Mercurial Superfly

Further down this very page you can see Dani Alves sporting another blackout boot - however for the Champions League the Barca wing back opted for these blacked out first generation Nike Mercurial Superfly football boots, leaving the vibrant yellow laces intact and causing our inbox to be flooded with "with "what is Alves wearing?!" requests. So now you know!

Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal) Nike CTR360 Maestri

The Arsenal captain was in scintillating form as the Gunners destroyed Braga 6-0. Fabregas is still wearing the original colour release Nike CTR360 Maestri football boots, or though this spy shot allows us to check out his custom Tiempo sole plate versions more closely.

Vagner Love (CSKA Moscow) adidas F50 adizero Custom

Causing plenty of debate at SoccerBible HQ, Vagner Love wore these custom leather adidas F50 adizero football boots in CSKA's Europa League tie. Using the White/Pink as a base, If he's done the custom paint job himself, this is most impressive - but some members of the Boot Spotting Army reckon this is a special support wrap - we'll let you draw your own conclusions...

Image Image

Luis Fabiano (Sevilla) Nike Mercurial Superfly 1.5

Fabiano was one of the first to be spotted with the Superfly II, so an interesting choice for the Brazilian striker that he opts for the original Nike Mercurial Superfly sole plate config with his World Cup Elite coloured upper. We love these Hybrid Superfly 1.5's and it seems Fabiano does too!

Hulk (FC Porto) Mizuno Morelia

Mizuno's ambassador for the Morelia, and the giant Brazilian forward notched a vital Europa League goal for Porto, wearing the classy Mizuno Morelia football boots. Check out what Hulk thinks of the boots with our exclusive video interview!

Carlos Tevez (Man CIty) Nike CTR360 Maestri

OK, we accept this has become quite a Swoosh-heavy addition to the Boot Spotting, but were interested to see Carlos Tevez in his latest choice of footwear during Man City's Europa League encounter. The Argentine wore these White/Black versions of the Nike CTR360 Maestri, complete with Boot ID personalisation on the instep. Also check out David Silva's adidas F50 adizero boots in the Chameleon colourway.

We were treated to a real variety of football boots on show this weekend - with some great customised boots, bespoke sole-plates, blacked-out boots, players switching brand and the usual suspects performing well...

Image Image

Dwayne De Rosario (Toronto) Puma v1.10 Lightning SL

De Rosario was one of the first players to wear the Puma v1.10 SL football boots in the original white/blue colourway, but here's the Toronto player sporting the Usain Bolt Lightning versions already worn by Samuel Eto'o, and note De Rosario's interesting way of tying his laces.

Image Image

Carlos Tevez (Man City) Nike CTR360 Maestri Elite

Carlos Tevez was wearing a mixed stud sole-plate with his Elite colourways, but looking at the outsole we'd guess these boots aren't Elites at all but were coloured up that way for the World Cup.

Image Image

David Beckham (LA Galaxy) adidas Predator X DB

After much speculation, Beckham made his return from injury to play for the Galaxy. Beckham came off the bench, and was able to competitively debut his red Predator X DB football boots, which feature a PowerSwerve sole-plate and we also noticed the Predator element doesn't feature the Predator text.

Image Image

Dani Alves (Barcelona) adidas F50 adizero

This was a huge shock as Dani Alves played for Barca wearing a blacked-out version of the adizero's. Alves has been a long term Vapor fan, but with the likes of Messi and David Villa at the club Alves has been persuaded. Looking at the white sole-plate and the yellow studs, it seems Alves has blacked-out the chameleon versions.

Image Image

Royston Drenthe (Hercules) Nike CTR360 Maestri

A nice pair of customised Nike CTR360 Maestri football boots here, as the green and white combination looks really classy. Although we're a bit baffled what has inspired Drenthe's colour choice, as they don't match either Hercules', Real Madrid's or Holland's colours.

Image Image

Paolo Cannavaro (Napoli) Bikkemberg Tirosegno

A unique boot choice from Cannavaro, who is playing in the Bikkemberg Tirosegno football boots. A stylish icon within the game, Bikkemberg have a niche following from players thanks to their unique styling and they're clearly not a bad performer either!

Image Image

Mikel Arteta (Everton) adidas F50 adizero

Mikel Arteta was Everton's hero after scoring a last minute equalising goal, in a dramatic Everton comeback against Man United. We noticed Arteta was wearing a customised pair of adizere football boots, they look like the white/black/pink colourway, although Arteta has a white tongue which looks more substantial than the standard adizero tongue.

Image Image

Milan Jovanovic (Liverpool) Puma v1.06

Jovanovic must have a locker full of v1.06 football boots, as he has worn about three or four different colourways in the last few months. But Jovanovic isn't alone in the professional footballers community by sticking with the v1.06 football boots, as players like Milos Krasic are also still wearing v1.06's.

Image Image

Rafael Van Der Vaart (Tottenham)
Nike CTR360 Maestri

Nicolas Anelka (Chelsea)
adidas F50 adizero

Van Der Vaart made his debut for Spurs wearing the Nike CTR360 Maestri football boots, and opted for the black/white/retro colourway.

Anelka made the change into adizero's this summer, and has now changed colourway and wore the cyan colourways for the first time, which are a great match for the Chelsea home kit.

Image Image

Nelson Valdez (Hercules)
adidas F50 adizero

James McFadden (Birmingham)
Nike CTR360 Maestri

Nelson Valdez was undoubtedly the hero this weekend, as he scored two goals at the Camp Nou to stun Barcelona, and give Hercules a 2-0 victory, outshining fellow adizero wearers Messi and David Villa.

We were surprised to see McFadden wearing a pair of Nike Ctr360 Maestri football boots. The long term adidas Predator wearer recently debuted the adizero's, so it was a surprise to see McFadden change again.
